Yuantai Provided Two Types of Bridge Cranes to Jordan
Yuantai has successfully delivered two types of cranes to Jordan, enhancing local infrastructure and supporting various industrial applications. Discover the specifications and benefits of these advanced lifting solutions.
Customer Background
A Jordanian industrial repair shop specializing in large equipment maintenance needed a better way to move heavy machinery components. Prior to the upgrade, technicians relied on forklifts and manual jacks to handle engines, gearboxes, and other bulky parts. This was slow and posed safety risks. Overhead crane systems can dramatically improve productivity and safety in such environments. The repair shop sought a modern crane solution to boost output, reduce injuries, and optimize its workspace.
Customer Requirements
The customer's key needs were clear: install robust industrial overhead cranes to handle their heaviest parts more efficiently and safely. The shop required cranes with lifting capacities in the mid-range (10 tons), enough span to cover the workspace, and moderate lifting heights (9m). They needed dual-speed hoists for both rapid lifts and fine positioning. The solution had to fit within the existing building height and use the factory's 380V three-phase power. Controls for both a handheld pendant and wireless remote were required to maximize operator safety.
Yuantai's Proposed Crane Solution

To meet these requirements, Yuantai proposed a dual-crane system: an LD-model single-girder overhead crane for the main workshop area, and an LX-model ceiling-mounted (suspension) crane for a secondary bay with limited support structure. The LD single-girder bridge crane is a traditional top-running design built to Chinese JB/T 1306 standards. It features a welded U-shaped box-beam main girder and is rated for 1–32 tons capacity. This top-running crane was chosen because it can handle the heavier loads reliably with relatively low price. Yuantai's LD crane can span 7.5–31.5m and was customized for the shop's span. It comes with wide-flange end trucks and electromechanical drives, offering a stable, full-span bridge for the hoist.
LD single-girder cranes support 1–32 ton loads; the LX underhung (ceiling-mounted) crane spans 3–15 m and handles 1–10 ton loads.
Meanwhile, the LX ceiling-mounted suspension crane (also called an underhung crane) was used in a smaller section. Designed per JB/T 2603 standards, the LX crane is an underslung single-girder system hung from the building structure. This underhung design maximizes floor space and works well in areas where erecting runway beams is impractical. It accommodates up to 10 tons and spans 3–15m. Because the LX crane's bridge and trolley run below the girder flange, it provides excellent clearance above the load and better side approach – ideal for workshops with moderate heights. In summary, the LD top-running crane handles the heaviest assemblies, while the LX suspension crane offers flexibility and space-saving for secondary tasks. This combination leverages Yuantai's product lines: the LD model for heavy lifting and the LX model for suspended lifting. Both cranes integrate with standard safety features and meet A3 (FEM 1Am) duty class for moderate use, matching the repair shop's needs.

Wire Rope Hoist Configuration and Specifications
Each crane was fitted with a Yuantai dual-speed MD-model electric wire rope hoist to meet the specified capacities. MD hoists are classic, mature designs for single-girder cranes, known for compact structure and durability. The MD-series offers two lifting speeds – a high speed for quick travel and a low speed for precise positioning. This is ideal for assembly tasks where fine adjustment under load is needed. The chosen MD hoists were configured as follows:
- 5-ton MD hoist: Lifting height 9m, high-speed 8.0m/min, low-speed 0.8m/min, trolley traverse 20m/min.
- 7.5-ton MD hoist: Lifting height 6m, high-speed ~7.0m/min (with 0.7m/min low speed), trolley traverse 20m/min.
For example, a 5t MD hoist runs at 8/0.8m/min (high/low) lift speed and 20m/min crane travel. The heavy-duty steel wire rope and grooved drum ensure smooth rope layering and long service life. Using double-speed hoists allowed the cranes to quickly raise loads during bulk movement, then slow down precisely as parts were aligned. Yuantai supplied all control panels, limit switches, and overload protectors so each hoist meets the required safety standards (e.g. emergency stop, anti-collision bumpers).
Communication Challenges and How They Were Resolved
Coordinating an overseas crane project presented some challenges, notably language and logistics. The Jordanian team spoke Arabic, so Yuantai engineers worked closely with bilingual staff to ensure all specifications were clear. We exchanged detailed drawings and held video conferences to review the overhead crane layout and lifting plans. Time zone differences were managed through regular weekly updates. For shipping and customs, Yuantai arranged a local logistic partner to monitor the cargo route.
Installation and Performance Evaluation
On-site assembly was handled by a Yuantai installation team. The existing steel runway was first checked for alignment, then the LD crane's end trucks and bridge girder were mounted. The LX suspension girder was secured to the ceiling supports. Each MD hoist was hung on its trolley and tested. After installation, the team ran no-load trials and calibrated limit switches and overload devices. During commissioning, the cranes operated smoothly and safely, with no abnormal vibrations or stops.
Once in operation, the benefits were immediately evident. Heavy components that used to require multiple lifts could now be moved in a single hoisting cycle. At the customer's shop, tasks like positioning large engine blocks became faster and more precise. Workers no longer had to reposition parts on a forklift or make repeated manual moves, so overall handling time dropped. Importantly, all safety systems functioned as intended: limits and alarms stopped the hoists at set positions, and remote controls let operators stand clear of loads. The customer reported that production cycles improved and that operators felt more secure using the new cranes.
Conclusion and Call to Action
In summary, Yuantai's integrated crane solution – combining an LD model single-girder overhead crane, an LX ceiling-mounted suspension crane, and high-performance MD wire rope hoists – successfully modernized the Jordan repair shop's material handling. The new system meets all the heavy lifting requirements, fits the existing facility, and enhances both efficiency and safety in daily operations.
