Design Specifications
All the structures and accessories of 50 tons overhead cranes offered by Yuantai are subjected to stringent quality tests to ensure their compliance with international standards. The design criteria for the components of this crane are as follows:
1. Structural Girder Assembly
The main girder is fabricated from Q355B high‑strength structural steel (equivalent to ISO S355, DIN ST52 or ASTM A572 Gr 50) to achieve an optimal balance of weight and stiffness. All longitudinal and transverse welds are executed per ISO 15614‑1 and AWS D1.1, ensuring consistent penetration and minimal distortion. To guarantee weld integrity, fillet welds undergo 100% magnetic‑particle or penetrant testing, and butt joints receive ultrasonic inspection. Under maximum rated load, the girder's mid‑span deflection does not exceed L/700, preserving both safety margins and crane geometry.
2. End Carriage and Drive System
Each end carriage employs a direct‑drive gearbox mounted to a hollow‑tube steel housing. This layout eliminates chains or belts, boosting transmission efficiency and reducing maintenance intervals. The wheels are machined from alloy steel and heat‑treated to achieve a fine microstructure, providing excellent wear resistance and fatigue life. Sealed taper‑roller bearings are grease‑lubricated for life and require inspection only at annual service intervals. The drive can be specified with either a two‑speed geared motor or a variable‑frequency drive for infinitely variable travel speed.
3. Hoist and Trolley Mechanism
The double‑girder hoist trolley rides on precision‑profile rails welded to the girder's lower flange. By splitting the hoist across two girders, we lower the headroom needed for the hook by approximately 200 mm compared to a conventional double‑girder crane. The hoisting motor, brake and gearbox are mounted in a compact assembly directly under the trolley beams for ideal load distribution. Load chain or wire rope passes over self‑aligning sheaves, offering reliable, snag‑free reeving and permitting hook positioning accuracy within ± 10 millimetres.
4. Gear Motor and Braking
Due to the different operating environments of different working conditions, we offer motors with IP55-IP67 protection class for different applications. Thermistor sensors embedded in the windings trigger an alarm and automatic shutdown if temperatures exceed safe limits. Braking is provided by a spring‑applied, electro‑magnetic unit. A manual release lever allows lowering of the load if power is lost, ensuring safe, controlled descent under any circumstance.
5. Electrical Control and Power Distribution
Due to the different operating environments of different working conditions, we offer motors with IP55-IP67 protection class for different applications.
6. Festoon Cable Management
The crane's power and control cables follow a double‑line festoon system suspended from a galvanized C‑track attached to the runway beam. One conductor group carries hoist power and control signals, while the second powers the trolley travel and pendant or radio‑control receiver. No‑weld “claw” brackets firmly clamp the track to the beam without penetrating the flange, simplifying retrofit installations and complying with most plant mottos against welding on existing structures.
7. Safety and Monitoring
A suite of interlocks protects both personnel and equipment. Load‑cell overload limit switches prevent lifting beyond rated capacity, cutting hoist power if a set threshold is exceeded. Mechanical end‑stops and limit switches halt hoisting at upper and lower extremes. Similar overspeed and overtravel switches guard the long‑ and cross‑travel motions. An optional crane monitoring system can log usage data, vibration levels and overload events, feeding them to a central dashboard or local LED load indicator in the cabin.
8. Anti‑Corrosion Coatings
Prior to painting, all steel surfaces are shot‑blasted to ISO 8501‑1 SA2.5, achieving a surface cleanliness of Level II per ISO 8502‑3 and a roughness profile of 50–70 μm (ISO 8503). The three‑layer coating system begins with a zinc‑rich epoxy primer, followed by an epoxy mid‑coat and finished with a polyurethane topcoat. All painters carrying out these tasks hold at least NACE Level II or FROSIO Level II certification, ensuring coating consistency and adhesion.
